- Embark on a long-term CAREER As an Automotive Service Consultant, your role will involve initiating automotive services and repairs by identifying vehicle performance issues and service requests; confirming warranty and service contract coverage; preparing estimates; documenting repair orders; and maintaining customer records. Responsibilities may vary by location, but typically include addressing customer inquiries, scheduling appointments, and assisting customers in determining necessary services based on vehicle maintenance needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support Service Department management in ensuring a smoothly operating, efficient service department with outstanding Customer Satisfaction.
- Accurately identify part numbers and labor time when creating external and some internal work orders. Effectively communicate customer concerns to technicians by providing detailed notes and descriptions on work orders. Ensure that necessary parts for repairs are included and set realistic time expectations.
- Ensure all required forms are signed during vehicle intake. Document any vehicle damage at the time of write-up and record accurate information.
- Evaluate warranty status of vehicles. Relay warranty issues to technicians to ensure proper handling of parts. Complete warranty documentation prior to customer pickup.
- Welcome all customers promptly and courteously as they enter and exit the dealership through the Service Entrance.
- Address all customer concerns efficiently and amicably. Demonstrate empathy, a positive demeanor, and our commitment to resolving issues.
- Foster a positive team environment within the Service Department. Ensure that the service counter is adequately staffed at all times. Communicate with colleagues when stepping away from the counter regarding your whereabouts and expected return time.
- Become proficient with all aspects of the computer systems used for service and parts management.
- Achieve established individual sales targets for parts and labor. Meet monthly departmental sales objectives.
- Engage professionally with staff from other departments. Resolve issues related to repair orders, parts, payments, etc., in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain organization and cleanliness in the drive aisle, write-up area, and shop throughout the day. Refresh service displays monthly.
Qualifications:
- Minimum high school diploma or GED; some college education preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities.
- Basic understanding of Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram maintenance, systems, parts, and diagnostics, or the ability to learn quickly.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Experience with point-of-sale and Parts and Service software, or the ability to learn quickly due to general computer knowledge and experience.
- Ability to connect with a diverse customer base.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to operate two-wheeled vehicles with a GVWR of 1360LBS in the shop and on public roads as necessary.
- Capability to bend, kneel, and crouch to inspect various vehicle components daily.
- Ability to lift up to 45 lbs. without assistance.
Supervisory Responsibility:
- Minimal supervisory responsibilities.
