Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Texas Health Fort Worth. As a Registered Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and treatment in our Respiratory Care Department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain and verify physician orders for therapy and validate for appropriateness.
  • Review available medical records and obtain pertinent medical history from patients or families.
  • Evaluate each patient using age and diagnosis appropriate assessment tests and measurements.
  • Apply appropriate patient care interventions according to protocol guidelines and priority of care.
  • Use therapeutic treatment techniques appropriate to patient age and desire for treatment.
  • Perform treatment procedures that are within the scope of the professional license.
  • Determine patient response to treatment and evaluate progress (reassessment).
  • Educate patients and families through instruction, demonstration, or appropriate handouts in treatment plan, safety issues, and home programs/self-management.
  • Maintain bedside and ventilator alarms in audible position.
  • Maintain patient safety throughout treatment.
  • Communicate with physicians and other healthcare personnel as appropriate regarding patient care issues.
  • Administer medication in a safe/correct manner, adhering to medication administration guidelines.
  • Report unsafe conditions and equipment in proper/timely manner.
  • Respond to emergency situations.
Requirements
  • Graduate of AMA-approved Respiratory Care Program required.
  • 1 year of Med/Surg or critical care experience preferred.
  • Previous experience a plus.
  • RCP - Respiratory Care Practitioner upon hire required.
  • RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist upon hire required.
  • BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support upon hire required.
  • ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support upon hire preferred.
  • NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Program upon hire preferred.
