Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced attorney to join our Corporate Counseling & Transactions Unit (CC&T) as an In-House Technology Counsel. This role will provide legal advice and guidance on a wide range of technology-related matters, including transactions, contracts, and vendor relationships.

Responsibilities

As an In-House Technology Counsel, you will be responsible for advising business areas on legal issues related to technology transactions, including drafting and negotiating contracts, counseling on vendor relationships, and providing guidance on data security, privacy, and intellectual property matters. You will also work closely with our Enterprise Technology Department and other business areas to ensure that technology-related agreements are properly negotiated and executed.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school, be an active member of the bar, and have at least 3-6 years of transactional experience, preferably in the technology area. You will also need to have excellent communication and negotiation skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Additionally, you will need to be eligible to lawfully work in the U.S. immediately and be willing to obtain a limited license in IL if not already appropriately licensed in IL.

Employees are not permitted to handle any legal business outside of State Farm except authorized pro bono work. Newly hired employees must cease all outside practice and all suit involvement before joining State Farm. Travel may be required via commercial transportation or driving to job-related activities. May work irregular hours due to workload and nature of work.
