Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at the Gadsden Correctional Facility in Quincy, Florida. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality medical care to detainees, working closely with our health services administrator, supervising nurse, and professional service providers.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess the condition of detainees and prescribe treatment as needed, under the direction of our health services administrator and supervising nurse.
  • Assist with provider line, prepare examining rooms, and operate pill call, administering medication and documenting as required.
  • Control medication, syringes, and other medical supplies or equipment, ensuring the highest level of security and confidentiality.
  • Perform emergency procedures as needed, calling the physician for treatment orders and maintaining absolute security and confidentiality of all medical records.
  • Monitor potential catastrophic illnesses and comply with all applicable pharmacy laws, especially those covering controlled substances.
  • Work on an on-call basis, as required, and prepare and maintain narrative, statistical, summary, and operational records, reports, and logs.
  • Conduct chart reviews, review the status of detainees with serious health problems, and complete all necessary intervention and treatment.
  • Perform rescue functions for accidents, emergencies, and disasters, administering basic emergency medical aid, physically removing people from dangerous situations, and securing and evacuating people from confined areas.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in nursing and current, valid nursing license for the state of Florida.
  • One year of experience preferred, including EKG, phlebotomy, injections, IV, casting, and wound care.
  • Current CPR certification and a valid driver's license in the state of Florida with an acceptable driving record.
