We are seeking an entry-level Electrical Engineer to join our Utilities and Central Energy team at KFI Engineers. As an Electrical Engineer I, you will play a key role in the successful execution of projects, providing technical and engineering excellence, and delivering high-quality work to our customers.

Job Summary:

The Electrical Engineer I will work closely with Senior Electrical Engineers to learn and develop design skills, design medium voltage and 480-volt power systems, and prepare engineering documents and equipment specifications to meet codes, standards, and contracted scope of work.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop electrical power systems, including generation and distribution
  • Prepare engineering documents, equipment specifications, and single-line diagrams
  • Perform power system studies, including arc fault hazard analysis, short circuit, load flow, protective device coordination, and harmonics studies
  • Review and approve contractor submittals, conduct construction observation, and provide field support during startup and commissioning of electrical systems and equipment
  • Develop labor/cost estimates for assigned scope of work and ensure projects stay within scope and budget
  • Support business development through input to proposals, meeting with prospective customers, and interviewing with current customers
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Strong electrical fundamentals knowledge or experience
  • Project experience and/or working knowledge of Process, Instrumentation & Controls through co-ops or internships
  • Willingness to develop in-depth knowledge of industry codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, NESC, ANSI/IEEE, etc.)
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to assimilate a range of ideas, programs, or alternatives into a set of recommendations
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to collaborate with others and enable effective interaction with Designers, Engineers, and Project Managers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, influencing skills, and has demonstrated the maturity and self-confidence to work with colleagues and customers
  • Ability to establish rapport and credibility with customers and other stakeholders
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Knowledge of computer technology and specific areas of application
  • Proficient in use of MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Willingness to pursue Professional Engineering (PE) certification
Working Conditions:

Some work locations will feature the tough terrain typical of construction sites or require lifting or moving field testing equipment.
