Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse to join our team at UnityPoint Health. As an ICU RN, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to critically ill patients, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless care transitions, and contributing to a culture of safety and excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Patient Assessment and Care Planning
    • Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical and emotional needs, identifying areas for improvement and developing individualized care plans to address these needs.
    • Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure that care plans are aligned with patients' goals and values.
  • Clinical Expertise and Decision-Making
    • Utilize critical thinking and clinical expertise to make informed decisions about patient care, including medication management, wound care, and other interventions.
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest evidence-based practices and guidelines in critical care nursing, applying this knowledge to improve patient outcomes.
  • Communication and Teamwork
    • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care transitions and address any concerns or questions.
    • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans, share knowledge and expertise, and support each other in providing high-quality patient care.
  • Professional Development and Accountability
    • Participate in ongoing education and professional development opportunities to enhance clinical skills and knowledge, staying current with best practices in critical care nursing.
    • Take ownership of patient care, being accountable for the quality and safety of care provided, and reporting any concerns or issues to leadership or other relevant parties.
Requirements
  • Education and Licensure
    • Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program.
    • Current licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Iowa or eligibility for licensure.
  • Skills and Experience
    • At least 1 year of experience in critical care nursing, preferably in an ICU setting.
    • Strong clinical skills and knowledge of critical care nursing practices, including medication management, wound care, and other interventions.
    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
