Job Summary

The Natural Resources Conservation Service is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the position of Soil Conservationist. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing comprehensive natural resource conservation programs that promote sustainable land use and conservation practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with landowners to design and implement conservation systems and practices that address soil erosion, water quality, and other environmental concerns.
  • Provide technical guidance and assistance to farmers, ranchers, and other stakeholders on conservation practices and technologies.
  • Develop and implement conservation plans that integrate soil, water, and other natural resource management practices.
  • Work with local communities, conservation organizations, and other stakeholders to promote conservation and sustainable land use practices.
  • Conduct site visits and assessments to identify conservation opportunities and develop recommendations for landowners.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with landowners, farmers, and other stakeholders to promote conservation and sustainable land use practices.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in soil science, agronomy, environmental science, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in soil conservation, natural resource management, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of soil science, conservation practices, and natural resource management principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in soil science, agronomy, environmental science, or a related field.
  • Experience with conservation planning, soil mapping, and other conservation practices.
  • Knowledge of federal and state conservation programs and policies.
  • Experience working with local communities, conservation organizations, and other stakeholders.
