Job SummaryThe Natural Resources Conservation Service is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the position of Soil Conservationist. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing comprehensive natural resource conservation programs that promote sustainable land use and conservation practices.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with landowners to design and implement conservation systems and practices that address soil erosion, water quality, and other environmental concerns.
- Provide technical guidance and assistance to farmers, ranchers, and other stakeholders on conservation practices and technologies.
- Develop and implement conservation plans that integrate soil, water, and other natural resource management practices.
- Work with local communities, conservation organizations, and other stakeholders to promote conservation and sustainable land use practices.
- Conduct site visits and assessments to identify conservation opportunities and develop recommendations for landowners.
- Develop and maintain relationships with landowners, farmers, and other stakeholders to promote conservation and sustainable land use practices.
- Bachelor's degree in soil science, agronomy, environmental science, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in soil conservation, natural resource management, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of soil science, conservation practices, and natural resource management principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Master's degree in soil science, agronomy, environmental science, or a related field.
- Experience with conservation planning, soil mapping, and other conservation practices.
- Knowledge of federal and state conservation programs and policies.
- Experience working with local communities, conservation organizations, and other stakeholders.
