As a Licensed Vocational Nurse at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse or physician/advanced practice provider. Your observational skills will enable you to identify nursing interventions and assist medical staff in ensuring optimal care within established policies, procedures, and standards.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide Therapeutic Patient Care: Deliver patient care in accordance with established plans of care, physician/advanced practice provider orders, and within the scope of practice.
- Communicate Effectively: Communicate directly with Registered Nurses to institute changes in the plan of care and assist with the development of a nursing care plan.
- Administer Medications and Treatments: Administer specified medications and treatments accurately and safely, following physician/advanced practice provider orders and standing orders within the scope of practice.
- Perform Related Patient Care Functions: Take vital signs, perform wound care, instruct patients in self-administered treatments, obtain specimens, and ensure correct culture collection.
- Assist with Examinations and Treatments: Assist physician/advanced practice providers or other medical staff personnel with examinations and treatments by selecting and passing instruments, providing support and restraint to the patient, draping, and other assistance as directed.
- Document Patient Care: Document patient care in Health Connect, adhering to policy, procedures, guidelines, and protocols.
- Participate in Quality Improvement: Participate in staff meetings, in-service programs, and other quality improvement initiatives to ensure high-quality patient care and safety.
- Support Patient Communication: Support patient communication and message management, including patient emails, call center messages, and other back-office messages.
- Perform Other Related Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned and required, including orientation of new employees and assisting with the discharge process.
- Experience: Minimum Twelve (12) months or greater LVN direct patient care experience within the last three (3) years.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED.
- License, Certification, Registration: Vocational Nurse License (California) and Basic Life Support.
- Additional Requirements: Extraordinary customer relations and quality service are critical to our success. We seek candidates who can demonstrate these skills and are dedicated to providing the highest quality of service to our health plan members.
