Job Summary

The U.S. Department of the Interior is seeking a skilled Maintenance Worker to join our team at Ninety Six National Historic Site in South Carolina. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to maintenance, repair, and upkeep of our historic site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment, including carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work.
  • Operate light trucks, tractors, UTVs, mowers, forklifts, and bobcats to transport supplies and materials, and perform grounds and trail maintenance.
  • Assist with custodial services in and around park facilities.
  • Participate in special events and projects as needed.
Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
  • Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Qualifications
  • Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision.
  • Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, repair, etc.
  • Technical practices (theoretical, precise, artistic).
  • Use of measuring instruments.
  • Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. (includes blueprint reading).
  • Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment.
  • Knowledge of materials.
Working Conditions

The primary duty station is Ninety Six National Historic Site in Ninety Six, SC. The work environment is varied, with tasks performed both indoors and outdoors in a historic site setting. The incumbent must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
