About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Mental Health Psychiatric RN to join our team as a Liaison Services provider at The University of Kansas Health System. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and families.

Job Summary

The Mental Health Psychiatric RN for Liaison Services will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure that all clinical care meets or exceeds goals and expectations for clinical outcomes, quality assurance standards, and patient satisfaction. You will be responsible for assessing the behavioral health patients' psychiatric state, collaborating with community resources, monitoring adherence to treatments, and maintaining patient safety during restraint events.

Responsibilities

  • Provides thorough, timely, and accurate documentation of all pertinent data, therapeutic interventions, and patient responses, including assessment, care plan, patient goals, and interventions.
  • C Coordinate daily behavioral health plans of care.
  • Evaluating and implementing measures to ensure patient comfort and well-being, addressing medical, social, and emotional needs in the behavioral health setting.
  • Develops and delivers patient and family education on behavioral, psychiatric, and medical needs from admission to disposition.
  • Safely administers medication according to provider orders, protocols, and policies, while monitoring effectiveness and adhering to psychotropic drug knowledge requirements.
  • Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team regarding care and disposition specific to each patient's behavioral, psychiatric, and medical needs.
  • Delegates tasks as appropriate to Behavioral Health Technicians and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Maintains a safe behavioral health environment and milieu.
  • Engages in direct therapeutic interactions and participation with patients and their families.
  • Delivers patient care based on standards of practice, procedures, and policies of the health system.
  • Must perform professional, clinical, and technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree Nursing
  • At least 6 months of RN experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • ADN-prepared nurses hired after February 24, 2017; must complete BSN within 5 years of hire

Estimated Salary Range: $85,000 - $110,000 per year
