Position Summary

The Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering direct patient care within the Cardiac Catheterization Lab. This role involves collaborating with patients, their families, and a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure comprehensive healthcare services are provided. The Registered Nurse evaluates patient needs, formulates care plans, implements treatment protocols, and assesses the effectiveness of care in alignment with healthcare standards and practices.


Key Responsibilities
  1. Adhere to the performance standards, policies, and behaviors set forth by the organization.
  2. Utilize the nursing process to address the specific needs of patients across all care dimensions, including biophysical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and discharge planning.
  3. Employ critical thinking and decision-making skills to prioritize patient care and address unit-based challenges.
  4. Engage in effective communication and collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  5. Incorporate patient rights and nursing ethics into daily practice.
  6. Follow infection control protocols to minimize the risk of healthcare-associated infections.
  7. Comply with national patient safety goals established by regulatory bodies.
  8. Delegate tasks to ancillary staff in accordance with state nursing regulations.
  9. Uphold the ANA Code of Nursing Ethics and the Standards of Nursing Practice.
  10. Support and enhance the Professional Nursing Practice Model.
  11. Contribute to the advancement of the Magnet Recognition Program.
  12. Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  13. Fulfill competency requirements and attend mandatory training sessions.
  14. Engage in staff meetings as required.
  15. Implement cost-effective practices in patient care.
  16. Assume Charge Nurse responsibilities as needed.
  17. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  1. Graduate from an accredited nursing program with valid registration.
  2. Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) is required for new hires.
  3. Knowledge of current nursing practices and trends in patient care.
  4. Preferred: One year of acute care nursing experience in non-medical surgical or step-down areas.
  5. Current BLS certification from a recognized provider is mandatory.
  6. ACLS certification is required for all RNs.
  7. PALS certification is necessary for RNs in specific departments.
  8. NRP certification is required for RNs in designated units.
  9. Successful completion of departmental and unit orientation programs is essential.
