Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:
This role is focused on delivering expert Mechanical Engineering services and technical assistance to the Maintenance and Operations teams. The primary objective is to enhance the design, modification, re-engineering, and retrofitting of machinery and equipment to boost efficiency and output.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Investigates and identifies machinery and equipment issues to enhance quality, productivity, and repair damaged assets, thereby increasing production line availability.
  • Redesigns and retrofits machinery and equipment that require upgrades or repairs to improve overall performance and reduce costs.
  • Defines project scopes, creates engineering layouts, prepares reports, estimates costs, and collaborates with management for necessary approvals and purchases.
  • Analyzes machinery needs and maintenance procedures to develop and implement Preventative Maintenance Programs aimed at maximizing equipment uptime.
  • Coordinates Predictive and Preventative Maintenance activities, ensuring all tasks are completed satisfactorily.
  • Works closely with Maintenance Personnel to provide technical guidance on various maintenance projects, aiming to minimize costs and enhance equipment utilization.
  • Manages work orders, prepares instructions, and ensures the availability of spare parts for maintenance tasks.
  • Oversees the spare parts program to ensure essential components are readily available to prevent operational delays.
  • Assists in troubleshooting and repairing pollution control systems to comply with environmental regulations.
  • Adheres to safety regulations during engineering design, construction, and maintenance to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Stays updated on new technologies and methodologies through professional development and industry engagement.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
The Mechanical Maintenance Engineer operates under the supervision of the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer-Supervisor and collaborates with various departments, including Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance. Externally, this role interacts with equipment manufacturers and vendors for technical specifications and performance data.


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Other duties may be assigned as necessary, including participation in continuous improvement initiatives.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
A Technical Degree from an accredited institution is required. Basic computer skills are essential, and no prior experience is necessary.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The role requires mobility within the plant, regular sitting, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Visual and communication skills are also necessary.


HEALTH AND SAFETY:
Compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations is mandatory. Employees must follow safety protocols and report any safety equipment issues immediately.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Employees are expected to work in accordance with health and safety regulations.
