We are seeking a dedicated Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to join our healthcare team at Ferrer Pulmonary Institute as a contractor. The ideal candidate will possess a strong medical background and a passion for delivering quality and comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care.
This APRN opportunity is specifically designed to support skilled nursing facilities in Florida, providing pulmonary care services to patients across various specialties. Job DescriptionThe ideal candidate should have experience or knowledge in the following areas:
- Performing physical exams and patient observations
- Behavioral health assessment
- Setting up and monitoring medical equipment
- Communicating test results to patients and their families
- Recording patient medical histories
- Family planning services
- Infection control protocols
- Post-acute care experience (Preferred)
- Senior care practices
- Medical-surgical nursing techniques
- Strong anatomy knowledge
Responsibilities include:
- Providing direct patient care in various healthcare settings, such as nursing homes and long term care facilities
- Obtaining health history and performing physical examinations
- Diagnosing and directing counseling for each patient on a plan for treatment
- Prescribing medication in accordance with state statute and professional practice guidelines
- Maintaining a problem-oriented health record for each patient
- Evaluation of new-admission visits
- Coordination of discharge visits
- Developing and implementing patient management policies and procedures
- Communicating with attending physicians and/or specialists regarding patient care
- Conducting routine check-ups to patients to assess their health condition and discover possible issues
- Providing appropriate advice for healthy habits (diet, hygiene etc.) and preventative actions to promote overall health
- Cultivating a climate of trust and compassion for patients
- Assuring continuity of care by providing comprehensive medical services on a timely basis
- Providing excellent internal/external customer service via telephone, videoconference, chat or face-to-face contact to assist patients with their health care needs
- Following established departmental and medical center policies, procedures, and objectives
- Monitoring, assessing, and documenting patient conditions and reactions to treatments.Collaborating with healthcare professionals to plan, manage, and assess patient treatments
- Educating patients and their families on proper healthcare procedures
- Ensuring compliance with infection control policies and procedures
- Assisting in medical procedures as needed

Please note that this role requires a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience and holds active licensure and DEA number as a prerequisite.
