Job Summary
At Memorial MRI & Diagnostic, we are seeking a skilled Diagnostic Imaging Technologist to join our team. As a Diagnostic Imaging Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest level of patient care possible. Your primary responsibility will be to perform routine radiographic procedures, administering ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes. You will operate radiographic equipment, select and modify positioning of patients and equipment, develop images, and maintain required records. Additionally, you may be trained to perform special radiographic procedures.
Key Responsibilities
1. Ensure the highest level of patient care possible by displaying respect and concern for all patients, assisting patients as needed, and following HIPPA guidelines.
2. Verify the appropriate procedure to be performed by checking the physician's orders on the patient's chart with the requisition, and contacting the physician if there are any discrepancies.
3. Follow departmental procedure manual to ensure that all standard views are taken, refer to the requisition for any special instructions from the physician or Radiologist, and ensure exams are complete in RIS and properly transferred on PACS.
4. Assist radiologists as directed to produce radiographic images for diagnosis, position patients as appropriate for various types of radiographic procedures and equipment, operate radiographic equipment as directed by radiologist according to acquired skills, adjust equipment controls and techniques as required for radiographic images, and ensure adherence to Radiology Procedures.
5. Develop or assist with development of radiographic images using appropriate CR and DR procedures.
6. Regularly check equipment, accessories, and supplies, keep area stocked at all times, clean and disinfect equipment after each patient use, clean area daily, maintain QC & QA equipment/log in area, and maintain Equipment Preventive Maintenance.
7. Render first aid to radiology patients when necessary, notify appropriate personnel of emergency situations.
8. May assist in clinical practicum training of students, and evaluates their performance, if requested.
9. Obtain supplies as needed from various storage areas, maintain adequate inventory of supplies for an assigned area, notify supervisory personnel of supply shortages and equipment malfunctions.
10. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in radiological societies.
11. Demonstrate an ability to solve job-related problems such as equipment malfunctions, alternate patient positioning, different views, and the realization of equipment and patient limitations.
12. Follow all safety rules while on the job, report accidents promptly, correct minor safety hazards, communicate with peers and management regarding any hazards identified in the workplace.
Requirements
Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED equivalent with satisfactory completion of an American Medical Association (AMA) approved educational program in Radiologic Technology, experience as a skilled general diagnostic technologist, and registration in Radiologic Technology by a nationally recognized certifying body (ARRT preferred) or meets the requirements for registry eligibility. A graduate technologist must become registered within their first year of employment. Certified by the Texas Department of Health as a Medical Radiologic Technologist. Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Medical Radiological Technologist Certificate from Texas Department of Health. Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
