The Materials Handler plays a critical role in supporting the routine operation and organization of our facilities. This position is responsible for unloading and receiving inbound shipments, working closely with operations and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless logistics and inventory management.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine receiving activities for supplies and equipment, including materials receipt and stocking, in accordance with Vertex standards.
- Enter data on received items into our ERP system, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Distribute received materials to internal customers per purchase order or end user requests, maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Unpack and check goods received against purchase orders or invoices, maintaining records of received goods and rejecting unsatisfactory items if necessary.
- Execute daily support operations related to tracking materials, materials allocation, and inventory management.
- Monitor inventory levels and alert the supply chain of any gaps versus plan, ensuring timely replenishment.
- Prepare kitting packages for assembly production, adhering to quality and safety standards.
- Coordinate the return and replacement of defect materials from sites to vendors, in close partnership with supply chain colleagues.
- Perform tasks in a manner consistent with safety policies, quality systems, and GMP requirements.
- Ability to follow existing procedures accurately and develop experience in domestic and international shipping of cold chain products.
- Organizational, record-keeping, and communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, or Outlook.
- Understanding of good documentation practices and ability to perform the physical demands of the role, including lifting moderately heavy boxes and prolonged standing.
- High School or secondary school diploma and typically 2 years of experience in warehouse/materials management or an equivalent combination of experience and education in a related field.
This is a temporary role with a third-party agency partner on assignment at Vertex Pharmaceuticals. The individual selected for this role will be offered the role as an employee of a third-party agency partner, with compensation, medical benefits, and other terms and conditions of employment presented by the third-party agency partner.
