Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our team at Mission Veterinary Partners. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our animal hospital.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer medications, assist with treatments, diagnostics, and monitoring, and perform various medical procedures.
  • Assist with anesthesia and surgery, including patient preparation, induction, maintenance, and recovery.
  • Provide patient dental care, including ultrasonic cleaning and polishing, and assist with dental surgery.
  • Position patients and assist with radiographs, and send radiographs via email.
  • Collect, prepare, and run or submit samples for requested tests, and read and record results when indicated.
  • Prepare invoices, discharge instructions, and client informational tools.
  • Communicate with clients regarding hospitalized patients, provide discharge instructions, and follow up as needed.
  • Teach and educate clients on at-home care procedures.
  • Assist with veterinary technician appointments, including blood draws, bandage changes, post-op checks, and suture removals.
  • Assist with clinic technician duties, including preparing, restocking, and cleaning exam rooms, and ensuring a smooth and timely flow of outpatient appointments.
  • Assist with reception and front desk duties as needed, including answering phones, booking appointments, and admitting and discharging patients.
  • Assist in training and mentoring new team members.
  • Assist with inventory control, including informing the inventory manager when products are low or out, unpacking, and restocking drug and medical supplies.
  • Prepare prescriptions, including dispensing medications and medication refills.

Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb, as well as manipulate up to 50 pounds and over 50 pounds with a coworker.
  • Ability to endure sitting, standing, and walking on hard floor surfaces for extended periods.
  • Sufficient ambulatory skills to perform duties in a hospital environment.
  • Ability to work in noisy conditions with sounds from animals and equipment.
  • Exposure to a variety of pets that may bite or scratch, and occasional exposure to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards, and medication/controlled substances.
  • Good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate equipment.
