Job Summary:

The Virginia Department of Human Resource Management is seeking a qualified Plumbing Instructor to join our team. As a Plumbing Instructor, you will be responsible for providing quality educational programs to residents/students, meeting the individual needs of each student, and adhering to the standards defined under the Commonwealth's statutes and program certification requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide instruction and engage students in a quality, competency-based program preparing students for entry-level employment and/or post-secondary education.
• Supervise students and youth, facilitate appropriate classroom management, and maintain accurate records.
• Develop and implement curriculum to meet the needs of residents/students.
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a cohesive and effective educational program.

Requirements:

• Must hold or be eligible for a Virginia Teaching License and plumbing credential.
• Must possess a high school diploma or Virginia Board of Education-approved high school equivalency credential.
• Considerable work experience in plumbing.
• Ability to work with at-risk youth and maintain a safe and respectful learning environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Coursework from an acceptable post-secondary institution in a plumbing program.
• Experience teaching or working with at-risk youth.
• Master Plumber, Journeyman Plumber, or NCCER Plumbing certification.
