Job Overview

Position Summary

The successful applicant will have a minimum of three (3) years of relevant procurement experience, showcasing exceptional communication and negotiation abilities while thriving in a dynamic manufacturing setting that caters to commercial, government, and defense sectors. This individual should possess the capability to swiftly comprehend new concepts, enabling them to become an autonomous problem solver.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the tactical implementation of supply strategies.
  • Analyze MRP data to acquire the necessary materials for scheduled production timelines.
  • Generate, oversee, and maintain purchasing documentation as per MRP or non-production requisitions.
  • Ensure accountability for costs, schedules, and inventory concerning production and non-production materials.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and provide ongoing feedback to the Director of Supply Chain and Quality.
  • Address delivery challenges and take necessary actions to avert production delays.
  • Facilitate expediting and escalation processes to align with an evolving production schedule.
  • Collaborate closely with Supplier Quality to resolve non-conforming materials within set timelines.
  • Engage with all business units.
  • Identify and qualify new suppliers in conjunction with Engineering.
  • Work towards achieving cost-saving objectives established by management.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to secure the most competitive overall product pricing.
  • May involve additional responsibilities and/or special projects as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience as a Buyer in a manufacturing context.
  • Familiarity with assemblies, components, and metal fabrication.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask and think creatively.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient negotiation capabilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Robust analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced and occasionally high-pressure environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related technical field is preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across all organizational levels.
  • A solid technical foundation.

Physical Requirements:

  • Extended periods of sitting at a desk and utilizing a computer.
  • Occasional prolonged standing.
  • Ability to walk for extended durations.
  • Capability to lift up to 25 lbs. as needed.
  • Willingness to travel to suppliers.
