  • Ensure the safety and welfare of all children in your care.
  • Provide constant supervision of children to guarantee safe and suitable play, while monitoring all play areas for safety and cleanliness of equipment; ensure all children are visible at all times.
  • Exhibit understanding of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services Child Care Licensing Regulations and the policies and procedures of Columbus Early Learning Centers.
  • Maintain appropriate child-staff ratios consistently.
  • Keep accurate daily records of child attendance and meal counts.
  • Foster a safe, clean, sanitary, and organized educational environment.
  • Respond effectively to emergencies or crises by administering First Aid or CPR, evaluating the need for emergency services, and preventing the spread of illness.
  • Protect all children from any form of physical punishment or verbal abuse during program activities, and promptly report any such incidents to the Center Director.
  • Monitor children for any signs of suspected or disclosed child abuse or neglect and report these immediately to the Center Director and/or the appropriate child welfare agency.
  • Safeguard all classroom materials and equipment, and account for any misused, damaged, or missing items.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness and general upkeep of the classroom.

Educational Requirements:

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or Equivalent (CPL 1).
  • Preferred: Child Development Associate Credential (CDA).

Experience Requirements:

  • No prior experience necessary.
