Job Overview

The Metal Fabrication Specialist plays a crucial role in the preparation and assembly of essential machined components that facilitate the manufacturing process. A strong understanding of precision tolerances, various metal types, and technical drawings is vital for this position. As a skilled individual at a level III proficiency, you will be expected to mentor and guide others in the area with minimal oversight.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit the capability to interpret technical drawings, sketches, or product specifications to establish the sequence and methods for fabricating, assembling, and installing sheet metal products under direct supervision.
  • Verify metal thickness with guidance and demonstrate the ability to work independently.
  • Select appropriate gauge and type of sheet metal, including hot rolled and cold rolled steel, stainless steel, aluminum, or non-metallic materials like plastics, based on product specifications.
  • Perform trimming, filing, grinding, deburring, buffing, and surface smoothing using hand tools with minimal supervision.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to address design, routing, and quality issues.
  • Manage multiple tasks and oversee various activities simultaneously with little supervision.
  • Adhere to safe working practices and consistently wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Contribute to 5S initiatives and maintain cleanliness in your work area.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Proficient in reading technical drawings, sketches, and verbal instructions.
  • Able to accurately read a tape measure.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
  • Demonstrated exceptional time management skills.
