Job Overview The Senior Systems Engineer plays a pivotal role in guiding a team through the comprehensive systems engineering lifecycle during the development of Flight Data Recorders.

This position demands extensive expertise related to Flight Data Recorders. You will be responsible for crafting system architectures, defining requirements, managing interfaces, and overseeing the integration and testing of intricate hardware/software for aviation systems while providing mentorship to team members.

This role is primarily based in a collaborative environment with options for hybrid or remote work a few days a week when feasible.

Relocation assistance is available, and participation in the corporate bonus program is included. Key Responsibilities:

Essential Duties:

  • Provide leadership in Systems Engineering across the entire development lifecycle, with a focus on embedded software and hardware.
  • Design systems architecture, establish requirements, and ensure verification and validation in accordance with FAA regulations such as DO-178C (level D).
  • Offer technical mentorship to team members and oversee Systems Engineering aspects of development projects.
  • Maintain in-depth product knowledge and effectively communicate architectural technology and product positioning to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with development teams to create solution architectures and respond to requests for information/proposals.
  • Assist in sales initiatives through technical presentations, requirement definitions, and architectural proposals.
  • Understand and articulate customer needs, ensuring that developed solutions meet those requirements.
  • Contribute to the formulation of strategic roadmaps and engage with support teams for compliance and review.
  • Travel to project sites for integration, training, and start-up services.
  • Document project specifics and maintain communication with support teams, management, and executives.
  • Address customer concerns in alignment with the company's mission and financial goals.
  • Foster professional relationships within internal support organizations and target accounts.
  • Provide updates on ongoing and upcoming projects while identifying potential sales opportunities for growth.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Master's Degree in Engineering with at least 5 years of experience in developing system architectures for aviation systems, including military applications; OR a Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
  • U.S. Person: This role is limited to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act) due to access to export-controlled technology. Verification of status will be required prior to employment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to analyze and resolve complex issues.
  • Capability to lead and execute programs/projects effectively.
  • Established skills in project management.
  • Familiarity with requirements management tools and/or modeling tools.
  • Comprehensive understanding of avionics power, data bus, and electrical interfaces.
  • Experience with Flight Data Recorders and embedded processing technologies.
  • Proficiency in interpreting architectural, mechanical, and electrical schematics.
  • Knowledge of RTCA/DO standards and military interface/environmental standards.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Demonstrated success in project management and product development.
  • Awareness of additional military interface and environmental standards.
  • Ability to conduct effective system design trade studies.

This position requires a self-driven individual with meticulous attention to detail, a collaborative approach, and a dedication to excellence in aviation system engineering.

Access to U.S. export-controlled information is necessary for this role. Final offers will be contingent upon the ability to obtain authorization for access to such information from the U.S. Government, if applicable.
