Job Description

For over 100 years, Swartz Retson & Co., P.C., a full-service, progressive CPA firm, and the largest accounting firm in Northwest Indiana, has been providing timely, professional, and ethical financial services to businesses and individuals throughout the region.

We are currently seeking a motivated self-starter with years of public accounting experience to lead financial and accounting engagements for privately held enterprises and nonprofit organizations. Working closely with clients and being their primary point of contact, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Prepare and review individual, corporate, and partnership financial statements and tax returns
  • Complete complex financial research culminating in summaries and recommendations for presentation
  • Remain abreast of changing financial laws and regulations
  • Provide year-end financial planning services
  • Develop and cultivate professional client relationships
  • Assist with staff development
  • Analyze annual financial statements, including account reconciliations with year-end journal entries

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • CPA or EA license preferred
  • 5+ years of current financial experience in a public accounting setting
  • Strong communication, organizational, analytical, client service, presentation, and PC skills, including accounting software proficiency
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities, meet goals and deadlines, and develop professional relationships with clients and all levels of staff
  • Prior experience with multiple entities and financial systems is a plus
