POSITION SUMMARY
The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a dedicated Immunology Research Specialist to contribute to innovative scientific projects in the field of immunoprofiling assays. This role involves providing technical expertise in standard immunohistochemistry (IHC), multiplex immunofluorescence (MiF), and developing cutting-edge tissue-based methodologies for clinical research.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Laboratory Expertise

Lead and execute scientific research initiatives focused on immunoprofiling, while offering technical guidance on IHC and MiF. Innovate and refine laboratory techniques for clinical applications, including but not limited to RNAscope and GeoMx Digital Spatial Profiler.

Collaborate with users across various levels to pinpoint potential solutions and create analytical workflows that enhance operational efficiency.

Engage with end users to analyze requirements and prototype new analytical technologies, ensuring a seamless transition from human to mouse models.

Establish and optimize laboratory protocols for quality control of IHC, RNAscope, FISH, and other platforms, including GeoMx DSP.

Work closely with vendors to integrate new methodologies into existing workflows.


Data Management and Analysis

Provide expert guidance in designing and developing independent research projects. Compile and analyze data, documenting results in alignment with established methodologies.

Collaborate with principal investigators and other researchers to create scientific content for reporting and analysis.

Ensure accurate reporting features and data integration within team functions.


Team Leadership

Oversee the training and development of laboratory technicians and personnel in laboratory techniques, equipment usage, and safety protocols.

Build and lead a team of scientists to meet the evolving objectives of research initiatives.

Assign and evaluate tasks for laboratory staff, guiding them towards achieving specific goals and assessing their performance.

Develop project initiatives and implement effective workflows.


Research Administration

Assist in the preparation of manuscripts and grant proposals, compiling and submitting reports as required.

Support the development of clinical protocols that align with ongoing research studies.

Facilitate communication among team members and stakeholders to ensure project alignment.


QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree in a natural science or related field is required. A PhD may substitute for experience, while a medical degree requires two years of relevant experience.
