United Natural Foods Inc-02908 is seeking a highly skilled Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team. As a Quality Assurance Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of our products by inspecting incoming shipments and stored products.
Key Responsibilities- Inspect all incoming shipments of assigned product groups, as well as product stored in the warehouse, to ensure they meet company and USDA specifications.
- Rate products according to company and USDA specifications and maintain necessary inspections and rejection records.
- Accept or reject product based on condition, short weight, transit damage, grade, temperature, and other reasons.
- Spot-check frozen foods to ensure they comply with company standards and specifications and maintain necessary rejection records.
- Inform buyers on product quality as necessary and prepare warehouse condition reports as requested.
- Organize shipping schedules for all items having different degrees of maturity and give shipping instructions to assembly via warehouse supervision.
- Determine the dollar cost and cause of warehouse shrink due to spoilage and make recommendations to management regarding reduction in shrink.
- Maintain logs and records of spoilage, including information on overbuying, lack of retail performance, weak produce, etc., and prepare monthly and quarterly recaps for review by management.
- Ensure that appropriate personnel are trained in the proper handling, storage, rotation, and selection of produce to be shipped to retail units and ensure that shipping crews are provided with daily information on lots to be shipped.
- Previous retail department manager or 2-4 years wholesale/retail experience.
- Must possess leadership ability to motivate others to achieve desired results and deal effectively with a wide variety of people on a daily basis.
- In addition to the above, 3+ years experience as an inspector.
- Capable of inspecting the more unusual loads of ethnic/imported goods more susceptible to contamination.
- Assists in the training of new quality assurance inspectors and assists warehousing in slotting temperature requirements of all items.
Some work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment. Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal. Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of normal workday. Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties.
