Work Schedule: 3rd Shift, M-F; 11:00 PM - 07:30 AM with rotating weekends

Department: Microbiology

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess the acceptability of specimens for testing based on established guidelines.
  • Execute routine and advanced technical procedures in accordance with departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments to ensure optimal performance.
  • Make informed technical decisions regarding testing and resolve issues effectively.
  • Prepare, evaluate, and test new reagents or controls.
  • Deliver accurate and timely test results to support quality patient care.
  • Conduct and document preventive maintenance and quality control activities.
  • Manage and replenish testing supplies as necessary.
  • Assist with specimen processing when required.
  • Maintain a safe laboratory environment and adhere to personal protective equipment protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a life science or laboratory science/Medical Technology.
  • Previous experience in a clinical laboratory setting is preferred.
  • ASCP certification as a Medical Technologist is required.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficient in computer usage; familiarity with laboratory information systems is advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail along with excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Must pass a standardized color vision screening.
  • Flexibility to work overtime or alternate shifts as needed.
