Job Summary

Stealth Recruiting Services is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Clinical Pharmacy to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and effective use of medications throughout the hospital, in compliance with state and federal regulations and consistent with current best practices in evidence-based medicine.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a medication information resource to patients, medical staff, nursing staff, and ancillary department personnel.
  • Provide high-quality comprehensive pharmaceutical care appropriate to the age of the patient, contributing to positive patient outcomes.
  • Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
  • Communicate effectively with pharmacy staff, nurses, providers, and other co-workers.
  • Consult other departments as appropriate to provide an interdisciplinary approach to patient care.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, organization, and the ability to function under stressful situations.
  • Treat patients and their families with respect and dignity.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality.
  • Maintain a good working relationship within the department and with other departments.
  • Ensure that documentation meets current standards and policies.
  • Manage and operate equipment safely and correctly.
  • Coordinate and supervise patient care as necessary.
  • Plan, organize, and direct pharmacy operations, ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Develop, implement, and communicate policies, guidelines, and standards for the pharmacy department in accordance with current standards.
  • Prevent, detect, and resolve medication-related problems and make appropriate evidence-based, patient-centered medication therapy recommendations as part of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Accurately review and verify medication orders, resolving medication therapy interactions, allergies, and incompatibilities.
  • Compound medications using standard formulas and processes, such as weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients.
  • Participate on hospital committees, such as the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee, Department Director Meeting, Infection Control Meeting, and Quality Committee.
  • Prepare department budget for personnel, operating expenses, and capital equipment, responsible for fiscal operation of the department.
  • Responsible for the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain formularies, information resources, and references appropriate for the scope of services.
  • Prepare IV admixtures and extemporaneous parenteral products, demonstrating proper technique.
  • Ensure accuracy and appropriateness of medication distributed throughout the hospital system.
  • Provide concise, applicable, comprehensive, and timely responses to requests for medication information.
  • Report medication errors and adverse drug events, and effectively contribute to the timely resolution of current events and prevention of future events.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for pharmacy technicians and interns.
  • Provide and document patient medication education per protocol.
  • Monitor and control inventory to ensure medication availability, quality of products available, and minimizing waste.
