Position Overview
The Prisma Health Physician is dedicated to delivering high-quality medical services to patients within the Prisma Health-University Medical Group.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of various diseases, defects, or injuries, and recommend or prescribe appropriate treatments for the relief or cure of physical, mental, or functional ailments.
- Provide medical care to patients in accordance with established professional standards, ensuring equitable treatment regardless of their financial status or demographic background.
- Maintain accurate, clear, and timely documentation for all medical examinations and procedures, utilizing Current Procedural Terminology and International Classification of Diseases codes appropriately.
- Participate in after-hours call coverage alongside other physicians in the practice, unless otherwise agreed upon.
- Adhere to accepted medical practices and comply with the regulations of managed care organizations and other payors, including Medicare and Medicaid, while prioritizing professional medical judgment.
- Enhance clinical expertise through ongoing medical education to meet certification and state licensing requirements.
- Actively engage in non-revenue generating activities that support the Vision and Mission of Prisma Health, which may include committee participation, community outreach, and contributions to teaching and research initiatives.
- Contribute to proposals for managed care contracts as needed.
- Assist in the development of quality assurance programs, utilization management initiatives, patient education services, and patient satisfaction efforts.
- Support the organization in obtaining and maintaining necessary licenses, permits, and accreditations relevant to the practice.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This role does not involve management responsibilities and will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.
Minimum Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
- Successful completion of residency; Board Certified or Board Eligible; Medical Staff Privileges
Required Certifications and Licenses
- Valid South Carolina Medical License
- South Carolina Controlled Substance License
- Drug Enforcement Agency Number
Essential Skills and Experience
- Basic computer proficiency
- Familiarity with office equipment (fax/copier)
- Mathematical competency
- Specialty-specific skills
