Surgery and Medical Services

We offer a full range of medical and surgical services including pediatrics, obstetrics, skilled nursing, emergency, intensive care as well as advanced diagnostic and imaging.

The hospital is also home to a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit which enables recovering mothers to remain close to their premature or special needs babies.

About the JobJob Summary:

This position is responsible for performing standard and complex electroencephalographs (EEG), EEG long term video, 12 and 15 lead EKGs, holter monitor hookup, cardiac event monitor hookup, and cardiac exercise treadmill testing in the pediatric setting ranging from newborn to young adults.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Performs various non-invasive cardiovascular and neurological procedures as outlined in the department's policy and procedure manual and within its scope of practice.
  • Completes appropriate documentation.
  • Performs EEG, EKG; applies Holter Monitors, etc., based on physician orders.
  • Greets and directs patient to appropriate exam area.
  • Uses AIDET; introduces self, calls patient by name and makes comfortable with surroundings.
  • Extracts relevant patient information from the medical record and obtains current/additional information via patient interview.
  • Performs tests in lab or at the bedside based on individual patient need.
  • Accurately applies electrodes using the 10-20 system.
  • Recognizes artifact and takes steps to correct problem.
  • Describes all abnormal clinical manifestations observed during the test.
  • Uses activated procedures such as hyperventilation, photic stimulation and sleep.
  • Monitors EKG, EMG and EOG when indicated.
  • Edits video studies for storage within 24 to 48 hours of study completion.
  • Performs necessary tasks to keep equipment and work areas clean and operational.
  • Folllows departmental policy and procedure for equipment cleaning/infection control.
  • Calibrates and adjusts machines for standard and special recordings.
  • Notifies appropriate personnel of the need for additional supplies/services.
  • Inspects and assures proper maintenance of EKG/EEG related equipment; promptly reports the need for repair to the appropriate person.
  • Cleans outpatient rooms weekly to maintain clean environment.
Requirements:Education/Skills:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Completion of Medical Assistant Program or one year of career-oriented college credits (24 credit hours) is preferred.
Experience:
  • 2-3 years of experience in performing EEG in a clinical setting is required.
  • 6 months experience with EKG/Stress testing preferred.
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:
  • BLS required.
  • Must have EKG or EEG within one year of hire.
