Assistant Professor and Extension Specialist in Tourism Economic Development

Position Overview
This tenure-track position is available in the Horst Schulze School of Hospitality Management at Auburn University. The successful candidate will provide leadership in tourism economic development and serve as an Extension specialist. The position is 95% Extension and 5% Service, with a focus on developing and delivering evidence-based programs and applied research.
Responsibilities
The selected applicant will be responsible for providing statewide leadership in tourism economic development, collaborating with the Horst Schulze School of Hospitality Management Director of Community Engagement and Economic Development, and developing grant-supported educational programs. The candidate will also participate in and assist Extension priority program teams, design and undertake evidence-based Extension and applied research projects, and establish and maintain a strong, extramurally funded Extension and applied research program.
Requirements
The successful candidate must have an earned doctorate in Hospitality or a related field, evidence of or strong promise in building a record of scholarship, grantsmanship, and multi-disciplinary collaborations, and the ability to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States. A minimum of five years of supervisory industry-oriented experience, local or regional economic development experience, grant writing, program development, and/or industry consulting is desired.
Setting
The Horst Schulze School of Hospitality Management is housed within the College of Human Sciences and offers a baccalaureate degree program in Hospitality Management, with program options in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Event Management, and Culinary Science. The position will provide opportunities for collaboration with faculty and students in the school and college, as well as with the Alabama Cooperative Extension System.
