This involves understanding the whole business cycle of the project and applying the appropriate business processes to ensure a successful outcome for both the customer and Tait.

The Project Manager will work closely with the TAM sales and engineering department staff to support sales development activities and generate new orders for Tait equipment, systems, and services.

Responsibilities

  • Assume single point of contact responsibility for Tait on the project and manage proactively to ensure delivery of all contract deliverables as agreed between the customer, Tait, and third-party contributors.
  • Provide clear, concise, and collaborative communication to customers, peers, and partners at every stage of project deployment.
  • Ensure all parties involved in the delivery of the solution understand their role and responsibility within the project.
  • Deliver the project on-time, within the limitations imposed by physical resource constraints, and monitor this with an appropriate visible project schedule.

  • Manage project expenditures to complete the project successfully within an appropriate project budget.
  • Maintain baselined project budgets and accurately forecast revenue milestones.
  • Responsible for all Tait internal services providers and third-party service providers, including solicitation, scope definition, contract negotiation, contract award, and execution.
  • Monitor the progress of the project and regularly report project progress along with previously set milestones.
  • Manage and monitor change as required by the project to ensure progression of the agreed deliverables and execute timely change orders to capture scope changes.
  • Proactively anticipate, identify, track, and mitigate risks, ensuring prompt reporting of project variances and issues that may impact the technical solution and any of the project milestones, deliverables, payments, or customer delight.
Requirements
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or equivalent preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related technical field or equivalent work experience.
  • Advanced project management knowledge, with at least 5 years of working knowledge of the effort required in planning, estimating, and managing the successful implementation of LTE, Land Mobile Radio (LMR), Military, or Network/Wireless/RF Communication Systems preferred.
  • Basic product and system configuration knowledge of radio communications systems preferred.
  • Sound commercial skills and a basic understanding of contract law.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in tactful negotiation and collaboration as it pertains to contract management.
  • Advanced knowledge of project management tools, such as Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Houston-based is preferred, but candidates outside of Houston with strong adherence to job requirements will also be considered.
  • Willingness to be flexible as change occurs and proven adaptability to change in business models, customer requirements, and environmental factors.
  • Confident and consistent presentation and meeting management skills, with a natural ability to lead cross-functional teams without direct management responsibility.
  • Business acumen and executive reporting finesse.
  • Experience leading in a matrix environment; able to get others to perform without line management authority.
  • Must be able and willing to travel one to three times per quarter.
