Job Overview

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a qualified Full-Time Registered Nurse to join their practice in Barnegat, NJ.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer immunizations and injections as directed by physician.
  • Assist physician in examination and treatment of patients, and in all special procedures including minor surgery as required.
  • Prepare patients and examination rooms, take initial medical history, take vital signs, make lab and x-ray appointments, and explain preparations to patients and document same.
  • Assist with preparation of equipment and aid physician during treatment, examination, and testing of patients in accordance with nursing standards.
  • Handle prescription refills and call-ins to pharmacies and patients.
  • Maintain examination rooms and treatment areas clean, including washing and drying instruments used, and preparing sterilization as required.
  • Maintain lab log book and record of OSHA related logs.
  • Maintain medical inventories according to established par levels, order supplies, check deliveries for accuracy, reconcile discrepancies, review bills for accuracy, and submit bills to Practice Manager or Assistant Office Manager.
  • Perform laboratory and diagnostic procedures, i.e. venipunctures, urinalysis, glucose and hemoglobin assessments, and preparation of lab specimens and forward to appropriate lab for processing.
  • Provide general nursing care to patients, handle medical problems, treatments, and diagnoses, and follow medical directions given by physician.
  • Provide scheduling or general problem issues to Practice Manager and operational issues to Director of Operations.
  • Receive and handle phone calls as directed by physician.
  • Remove lab reports from printer and attach to chart for MD to review.
  • Remove sutures, clean wounds, and apply dressings as directed by physician.
  • Responsible for interpretation and implementation of physician orders.
  • Responsible for medical education needs of patients.
  • Responsible for proper handling and storage of all medications stored in the office, periodically check expiration dates on in-house medications and immunizations.
  • Review scheduled patient charts for all documents, obtain documents if absent.
