About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Radiology Clerk PRN to join our team at San Juan Regional Medical Center. As a key member of our Radiology Department, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and customer service to our patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Billing and Accounting Functions:
    • Obtain insurance authorization for all services and track communication as required.
    • Demonstrate working knowledge of third-party payers' systems, including Medicare, Medicaid, commercial, PPO, and HMO systems, and assist with financial counseling of patients.
  • Medical Records Functions:
    • Register and re-register patients into our electronic medical record system.
    • Scan and upload patient documents, including prescriptions, admission face sheets, and consents.
    • Maintain knowledge of current medical record requirements and apply policies and procedures related to medical record information, confidentiality, release of information, and historical data.
  • Patient / Family Front Desk Reception Functions:
    • Greet and check patients, communicate arrival to clinical staff, and answer phones.
    • Take messages, file initial intake of referrals, and collaborate with departments and physicians' offices to obtain documentation or information.
    • Compile patient documentation, including history forms, insurance information, and prescriptions.
  • Schedule Patient Appointments:
    • Establish, alter, and communicate appointment schedules to staff and patients.
    • Arrange transportation as required and generate reports or gather data as instructed.
    • Maintain office supplies, inventory, mail, packages, and correspondence.
    • Handle daily routine problems and follow proper channels of communication.
Requirements
  • Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Skills: Excellent organizational skills, strong communication and customer service skills, and fluency in English.
  • Physical Demands: Extended sitting, some lifting (minimum 50 pounds), and exposure to radiation hazards through radiology procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Computer experience in word processing, database programs, and spreadsheets.
  • Strong writing skills.
Work Environment

This role requires working in a fast-paced medical environment with exposure to body fluids, radiation hazards, and potential verbally abusive patients. The ideal candidate will be able to provide multiple and directional guidance during procedures with caring and compassion.
