Application Support Specialist

Job Overview:
The role involves identifying, analyzing, and rectifying issues within business applications, collaborating with the application vendor as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as the primary expert for various applications to resolve user-related challenges within business operations.
  • Manage all tasks associated with the deployment and upkeep of business applications alongside end-users.
Ensure comprehensive documentation for tracking, change management, and configuration upkeep.
Oversee project coordination for specified software rollouts and enhancements while delivering continuous user support.

Testing and Support:
  • Execute application testing in a controlled environment with end-users as required.
Provide on-call support as instructed by management.

Documentation and Maintenance:
  • Update and maintain technical guides and user instructions.
Validate fixes and conduct follow-up assessments to confirm that issues have been effectively addressed concerning business applications.
Engage in preventative maintenance activities, including the application of service packs, patches, and hotfixes.
Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an application support capacity, particularly with accounting, inventory, pricing, and similar ERP systems, ideally within the retail sector. A total of five years in IT is preferred.
  • A bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, mathematics, or a related field is mandatory.
Demonstrated capability to develop and maintain standard operating procedures and document application support workflows.
Familiarity with the PDI Enterprise application suite is advantageous.
Ability to juggle multiple tasks in a dynamic and fast-paced setting while adapting to changing priorities.
Experience with PowerShell scripting and a foundational programming background is beneficial.
Proficient in writing and modifying SQL queries and monitoring Windows events on desktop and server operating systems.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and customer service orientation.
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
Capacity to work independently, collaboratively, and under supervision.
Willingness to acquire new skills as necessary.
