Job Summary

The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for directing and coordinating drivers to ensure timely, accurate, and safe loading and transportation of product to our outbound trailers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan freight from Distribution Centers and outside freight to create a daily run list, ensuring all freight is delivered efficiently, safely, and in the most cost-effective way possible.
  • Communicate daily plans clearly to the driver team, stores, and other customers.
  • Schedule pickups of returned materials from stores.
  • Coordinate with the Transportation Manager to resolve driver issues and create a plan for load recovery.
  • Seek outside line hauls from vendors or carriers to eliminate driving with empty miles and improve profitability.
  • Provide customer service and satisfaction to our stores.
  • Ensure compliance with Department of Transportation regulations.
  • Monitor driver performance and discipline.
  • Partner with Safety and HR to perform driver coaching and other safety and HR communications.
  • Oversee on-call responsibilities to ensure driver issues are resolved in a timely manner.
Requirements
  • At least 2 years of transportation experience or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficient with or ability to quickly learn TMW and Peoplenet systems.
  • Knowledge of logistics, including carriers, shipping policies, and procedures.
  • Strong understanding of Department of Transportation rules and regulations preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department across facilities.
  • Must be able to verbally communicate effectively with others (in-person and via electronic devices).
  • Must have close visual acuity.
