We are seeking a highly skilled Family Medicine Specialist to join our team at Gila River Health Care. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care services to families in support of basic healthcare needs.
Key Responsibilities- Diagnose patients through the use of appropriate tests, interpreting test results, and analyzing patient history.
- Provide high-quality treatment by developing treatment plans and prescribing medication appropriate for each patient and condition.
- Maintain timely and accurate medical documentation.
- Assist in the supervision of medical staff within the department to ensure efficient clinical operations.
- Conduct routine check-ups on patients within the family medicine clinic to monitor and assess patient health conditions and discover possible issues.
- Provide comprehensive examinations and ancillary testing; analyze reports, test results, and medical records to diagnose conditions and prescribe appropriate pharmaceuticals, medications, and treatment options.
- Refer patients to specialists for laboratory and radiology tests as needed.
- Perform patient surgeries and procedures as needed.
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation of examination results, treatment plans, and patients' outcomes in accordance with all regulatory and payer requirements.
- Discuss healthcare practices, techniques, test results, and procedures in lay terms to explain medical treatments to patients in a thorough, respected, and collaborative manner.
- Advise patients on lifestyle or diet changes that may improve their health conditions.
- Coordinate with other specialty areas to discuss cases that require a multi-disciplinary approach.
- Respond to any questions or concerns of patients.
- Participate in staff meetings, workshops, committees, and forums, as required.
- Assist in the supervision of medical assistants.
- Provide supervision and education to medical students and residents.
- Doctoral degree in Medicine, MD or DO required.
- Completion of an approved Family Medicine residency program required.
- Current and valid State of Arizona license to practice medicine. If licensed in other states, must possess Arizona license within 1 year of hire.
- Board Certification in Family Medicine or ability to obtain certification within 2 years of hire.
- Current or eligible for Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) licensure.
- Demonstrates ability to relate to diverse cultures and specifically the Gila River Community and/or other Native American cultures and community health services.
