Job Summary

Tulane University Staff is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to fill the position of Police Officer within our Police Department. As a Police Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for our students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce state and local laws, as well as Tulane University policies and procedures.
  • Conduct proactive patrols by means of foot, bicycle, or motorized vehicle.
  • Provide public safety services and respond to emergency situations.
  • Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies to ensure a safe and secure community.
Requirements
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must possess a valid and unrestricted U.S. driver's license.
  • Must be able to pass a medical examination, including vision screening and drug testing.
  • Must be able to pass a psychological evaluation.
  • Must demonstrate good moral character.
  • Must have a strong understanding of law enforcement procedures and protocols.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and make sound decisions quickly.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous law enforcement experience.
  • Knowledge of Louisiana state laws and regulations.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Working Conditions
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to work in inclement weather or weather extremes.
  • May be confined to a patrol car for an entire shift.
  • May be exposed to hazardous materials, infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, steam, car battery acid, loud noises, smoke, and fire.
