Ironworker Apprentice

Mortenson is seeking a skilled Ironworker Apprentice to join our team. As an Ironworker Apprentice, you will play a critical role in reinforcing concrete and building structures by marking, positioning, and securing structural steel members.

• Set up and flag structural steel members for installation
• Inspect rigging equipment to ensure proper use and safety
• Operate a site level to ensure accurate measurements
• Verify truck deliveries against bill of lading
• Count and organize rebar, dobies, and wire mesh
• Direct forklift/crane operations to unload delivery trucks
• Shake out rebar and distribute/organize accordingly
• Tie rebar intersections with tie wire
• Splice mats or rebar sections together
• Understand building codes and requirements
• Cut excess rebar ends and miscellaneous pieces
• Install mechanical rebar splices
• Install caps on vertical rebar dowels
• Install rebar dowels into fresh concrete footings
• Determine number, size, shape, and location of reinforcing rods
• Bend steel rods with hand tools or rodbending machine
• Reinforce concrete with wire mesh
• Install prefabricated ornamental ironwork

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum of three years related experience
• Pass the Apprentice Aptitude Test
• Valid driver's license
