Heavy Equipment Technician

Position Available: Heavy Equipment Shop and Truck Mechanic
R-2 Contractors is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Shop and Truck Mechanic to contribute to our team's success. This role involves performing a variety of tasks, including inspection, diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of heavy-duty trucks and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform skilled duties, including inspection, diagnosis, and repair of heavy-duty trucks and equipment
- Complete tasks given by the Shop Manager in a timely fashion and seek assistance when needed
- Maintain a tool inventory sufficient to perform assigned tasks
- Responsible for cleaning and organizing the shop
- Must be able to operate heavy equipment
- Complete all required documentation, including timesheets, checklists, and repair orders
- Assist with getting company vehicles to and from locations as needed
- Complete DOT inspections
- Use proper PPE, including grinding, cutting, sanding, and welding
- Loading and unloading trucks with the use of a forklift
Requirements:
- Physical requirements: Lifting up to 100 pounds, climbing, twisting, bending, and standing for long periods
- Minimum 3 years of heavy equipment/heavy truck experience
- Experience in safely using hand and power tools, equipment, and diagnostic devices
- Forklift Certification or willingness to obtain certification
- Class A or B CDL with a clean driving record - preferred, or the ability to work with the company to obtain one
- DOT medical card required and ability to maintain
- Mechanical experience required
