Job Summary

The University of Alabama is seeking a highly qualified Postdoctoral Fellow to join our Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering Department. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent PhD graduate to continue their research and academic development under the guidance of a senior faculty member.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research in low-carbon infrastructure materials, particularly deep decarbonization of cementitious materials through material recycling and CO2 mineralization.
  • Collaborate with faculty members and other researchers to advance knowledge and understanding in the field.
  • Develop and implement research projects, including designing experiments, collecting and analyzing data, and publishing research findings.
  • Teach and mentor students, as needed.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. or other terminal degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Strong research background and experience in cement and concrete chemistry, computational material science, and sustainable chemistry.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience with SEM, TEM, XRD, TGA, FTIR, NMR, and ICP-OES.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with thermodynamic modeling and molecular simulation of cementitious materials.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to collect and analyze data.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
