Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Veterinary Technician to join our team in the Radiation Oncology department at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. As a Veterinary Technician in this role, you will have the opportunity to work with a talented team of professionals to provide exceptional patient care and support.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer sedation and monitor patients
  • Call referring veterinary clinics for patient records
  • Clean and stock work areas
  • Coordinate with other services for procedures
  • Obtain patient histories
  • Participate in rotating on-call shifts as needed
  • Perform catheter placement
  • Perform nursing care for patients
  • Perform patient restraint
  • Perform phlebotomy and other sample collection
  • Float to support other small animal services as needed
  • Assist with client communication and inquiries
  • Bring a positive and helpful attitude to the unit daily
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • High school diploma required
  • Associate's degree preferred
  • CVT certification or eligibility to obtain within 12 months
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. independently and physical and manual dexterity to perform specialized technical tasks

Work Schedule:

Monday-Friday, 9:00AM-5:30PM, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch. Time may vary based on candidate and unit needs. Flexibility to cover various shifts as needed. Some holidays and weekends may be required, based on needs of the unit. On-call hours as required by the hospital.
