Job Summary:

Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital is seeking a Per Diem Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist to join our Anesthesia Care Team. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for administering medications, obtaining consultations and diagnostic studies, and developing and implementing anesthetic plans.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform and document pre-anesthetic evaluations, order additional testing as needed, and explain anesthesia procedures to patients and families.
  • Prepare anesthesia plans, assemble necessary equipment, and ensure its proper functioning.
  • Administer anesthetic and maintain physiological status of patients, including proper patient positioning and administration of general, spinal, and regional anesthetics.
  • Conduct recovery of patients from anesthesia, reverse anesthesia consistent with standard practice, and ensure stability of patient status in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
  • Document all patient care interactions and other required records, maintaining accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintain equipment and supply inventories, request medications and supplies as needed, and clean anesthesia equipment and workroom as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing and a School of Nurse Anesthesiology.
  • Certified by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
  • Current RN license and registration in New York State.
  • BLS/ACLS/PALS certification.
