Position Overview - CWD Regional Operations Manager

Job Responsibilities:

The CWD Regional Operations Manager will oversee all CWD sampling activities within designated regions, coordinating field logistics and surveillance efforts to ensure a productive CWD sampling season. This position acts as the primary liaison for the CWD Program, engaging with staff and the public in their region. Responsibilities include:

  • Leading a team of up to six field technicians during the hunting season.
  • Distributing CWD-related educational materials to various stakeholders.
  • Conducting educational outreach initiatives with hunters and community members.
  • Serving as the main CWD sample collector during the Archery season.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a combination of education and experience equivalent to at least two years of college coursework towards a bachelor’s degree in wildlife biology, fish and wildlife management, animal ecology, biology, or a related field, along with relevant work experience. Supervisory experience is preferred, and combinations of education and experience will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Certification in wildlife capture and handling may be required.

Additional Information:

This position may necessitate overnight travel and weekend work. Candidates should demonstrate strong technical and interpersonal skills, with effective communication abilities for engaging with staff, stakeholders, and the public regarding CWD-related issues. Time management skills are essential, as the role may involve working in challenging weather conditions and rough terrains.
