POSITION OVERVIEW
Under general supervision, the Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for conducting assessments and providing therapeutic interventions for children as outlined in their Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) or Individual Education Plan (IEP). This role involves collaboration with parents and multidisciplinary team members to ensure comprehensive care.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Speech Language Pathologist will be tasked with the following duties:

  • Conducting thorough speech and language assessments to identify developmental needs.
  • Interpreting assessment results and preparing detailed reports for relevant educational and regulatory bodies.
  • Designing and implementing individualized therapy plans based on established objectives.
  • Administering evaluation procedures to track and report on student progress as mandated by regulatory standards.
  • Creating and maintaining accurate documentation of therapy sessions and progress notes.
  • Regularly communicating with parents and guardians regarding their child's progress and therapy outcomes.
  • Participating in collaborative meetings and case discussions as necessary.
  • Ensuring that services provided align with the unique needs of each child and comply with educational regulations.
  • Completing all required documentation in a timely and precise manner.


QUALIFICATIONS
To be successful in this role, candidates must possess the following:

  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality at all times.
  • Ability to work autonomously while managing multiple responsibilities.
  • Excellent organizational and time management capabilities.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Assistive Technology and alternative communication methods is preferred.
  • Proficient in using computers and electronic communication devices.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A Master's Degree in Speech and Language Pathology is required, along with a minimum of one year of relevant experience in speech therapy.


CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Current state licensure in Speech and Language Pathology.
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competency is mandatory.
  • NYSED Certification as a TSHH or TSSLD is essential.
