Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Surgical Technologist to join our Cardiothoracic OR team at Mercy Hospital Springfield. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures, providing direct patient care, and maintaining a sterile environment.

Responsibilities
  • Set up and maintain a sterile field for surgical procedures
  • Provide direct patient care under the supervision of the surgeon and circulating Registered Nurse
  • Efficiently manage equipment and supplies based on patient needs and surgeon preference
  • Perform instrument, sponge, and sharp counts to ensure patient safety
  • Assist other OR staff as needed to maintain a safe and efficient operating environment
Requirements
  • 1 year plus experience as a Surgical Technologist in a hospital setting
  • 1 year plus experience in Cardiothoracic OR, with a focus on open heart procedures
  • Current certification as a CORST, CST, or TSC
  • Current BLS certification from the AHA
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with ECMO, Impella insertion, and robotics
Work Environment

This is a 13-week assignment with 36 guaranteed hours per week. The schedule will be 4 x 10 hour days, with occasional weekend and call requirements.
