Job SummaryKaiser Permanente is seeking a skilled Anesthesia Technician to join our team. As a key member of the anesthesia care team, you will assist the anesthesia provider in providing high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities- Assist with the anesthesia plan of care, considering age-related needs and performing patient care activities within the scope of practice.
- Collaborate with the anesthesia provider to ensure seamless patient care, including setup, application, and assistance with anesthesia equipment.
- Respond to emergency situations, such as Code Blue and Code Pink, with the anesthesia care team.
- Prepare and apply patient warming modalities as needed.
- Participate in problem identification and resolution, quality improvement, and staff development initiatives.
- Manage work assignments to ensure completion of patient care activities.
- Assemble anesthesia equipment and supplies needed for general, regional, and local anesthesia.
- Assist with patient preparation, electrode placement, and use of ultrasound/nerve stimulator devices.
- Ensure sterile technique and prepare anesthesia trays for procedures.
- Remove and dispose of supplies and equipment following procedures.
- Operate cell salvaging, intra-aortic balloon pumping, and TEE devices as required.
- Perform cleaning, sterilization, and decontamination of anesthesia-related items.
- Coordinate with Pharmacy for out-of-stock drugs and maintain inventory of disposable and non-disposable equipment.
- Work with engineering to maintain equipment and ensure adequate backup.
- Participate in relevant local, regional, and national committees.
- Develop and maintain a clean, orderly, and functional work environment.
- Graduate of an accredited program in Anesthesia Technology with an AS degree or certified by the American Society of Technologists and Technicians (ASATT) as a Technologist.
- High School Diploma.
- I.V. Certification.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
- Anesthesia Technician Certificate from American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians.
- Basic Life Support.
- Demonstrated ability to perform duties and responsibilities required of a Certified Anesthesia Technologist.
- Ability to lift 45 lbs of equipment from an overhead position daily.
- Ability to push/pull up to 500 lbs.
- Keyboarding skills and ability to use computer software applications, including Health Connect.
- Ability to stand or walk continuously.
- Working knowledge of anesthesia equipment, principles of asepsis, and sterile technique.
- Ability to exercise judgment and work efficiently with minimal supervision.
