Weekend Incentive Program

Weekend Defined: The weekend begins on Saturday AM shift and ends when the Sunday PM shift is completed on Monday morning.

Requirements for Weekend Incentive Program:

  • Must sign up for the weekend incentive program and agree to work every Saturday and Sunday.
  • The Saturday/Sunday weekend incentive position is considered regular part-time. Earns PTO at 1/2 the accrual rate of a full-time employee, averaging approximately 2 weekends off per year.

Benefits:

  • Qualifies for full-time benefits if signed up for and works at least one 12-hour scheduled day per week, with the same day and shift each week.
  • Qualifies for full-time benefits if signed up for 16-hour shifts on the weekend incentive program.
  • May earn shift differential for PM to AM qualifying shifts.

Disqualifiers and Exclusions:

  • Fails to work both days of the weekend, Saturday and Sunday, unless scheduled for PTO.
  • May be removed from the weekend incentive program by the DON or Administrator for excessive tardiness or more than two absences in a 12-month period.

Job Summary:

We seek a compassionate registered nurse who leads by example, motivates others, and promotes teamwork. Our charge nurses develop relationships with residents and patients, ensuring they receive the best care possible.

The registered nurse will direct the day-to-day functions of Aides/Orderlies and other staff being supervised, providing direct nursing care to patients.

Responsibilities include:

  • Directing the day-to-day functions of nursing aides, LPNs, and other staff being supervised.
  • Providing direct nursing care to patients.
  • Visiting assigned patients at regular intervals during tour of duty.
  • Supervising feeding of patients as necessary.
  • Notifying physicians when patient conditions warrant.
  • Performing administrative duties, such as documenting nurses' notes, doctors' orders, discharge plans, and other charge slips.
  • Charting pertinent facts and information in a professional, clear, and comprehensive manner.
  • Admitting, transferring, and discharging patients according to policy.
  • Recognizing and responding to changes in patients' conditions and documenting observations, interventions, and outcomes.
  • Ordering medications from the pharmacy, preparing, and administering medications as ordered by physicians.
  • Ensuring physicians sign off on all verbal orders and documenting the process.
  • Conducting and/or monitoring prescribed treatments, such as dressing changes, drawing blood, catheter changes, NG tube insertion and removal, laboratory work, etc.
  • Providing and receiving condition reports from the on-coming and off-going shifts.
  • Performing emergency procedures, such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and notifying family and appropriate parties in the event of death.
  • Recognizing, intervening, and reporting accidents and incidents when they occur.
  • Monitoring and updating care plans on each shift as necessary.
  • Supervising and participating in fire safety and other disaster drills and being prepared to carry out duties in the event of an actual event.
  • Recognizing, intervening, and/or reporting complaints and grievances from patients, families, visitors, and employees.
  • Monitoring the facility for possible health and safety hazards.
  • Maintaining privacy and confidentiality of records, conditions, and other information relating to patients, employees, and the facility.
  • Following established universal precautions and isolation procedures.
  • Updating daily census reports and submitting as required.
  • Attending and participating in orientation programs, on-going training, and educational classes.
  • Inventorying and requesting equipment, supplies, etc.
  • Assisting in updates of written policies and procedures of routine nursing care.
  • Participating in surveys made by authorized government agencies.
  • Admitting, transferring, and discharging patients.
  • Monitoring and participating in daily clean-up of the nurses' station.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a Registered Nurse degree.
  • Current State of Tennessee Registered Nursing License.

Other Requirements:

  • Communication skills and active listening.
  • Possessing good interpersonal skills while dealing with emotional or difficult situations.
  • Some travel may be required.
