Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Audio Engineer to join our team at InsideHigherEd. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality audio support for our events and productions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead audio set-ups, tune and troubleshoot audio systems for concerts, masterclasses and recitals.
  • Troubleshoot complex audio systems to ensure all events run smoothly.
  • Work in close partnership with the Production Manager and other members of the production team, conductors, artistic directors and students to provide audio support.
  • Operate Front of House Audio console including both digital and analogue mixers.

Requirements

  • Experience with digital consoles.
  • Familiarity with large and small format PA set-up and design.
  • Professional demeanor, superior communication skills, comfort in high-pressure situations, adaptable, solutions-oriented problem solver.
  • Understanding of the principles of EQ, Compression as well as familiarity with a wide variety of microphones and microphone techniques.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with proven ability to effectively prioritize workload.
  • Ability to work long hours and non-traditional shifts: evenings and weekends due to event schedule.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk, stand, climb for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in production (theatrical or event).
  • Two to Three years of experience in production or related field.
  • Additional experience may substitute for required education to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three to Five years of technical theater and audio experience.
