Overview of the Position
The Project Engineer plays a crucial role in steering the technical aspects of projects and programs, ensuring the delivery of exceptional and consistent results for clients. This position involves formulating and executing strategies and standards while offering direction and leadership to project teams, managing stakeholder relationships, and collaborating with various service channels. The Project Engineer is also responsible for providing technical governance and continuously assessing all facets of project and program execution to guarantee success.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the technical quality of deliverables provided to clients.
- Coordinate with all other delivery streams within the account.
- Act as the primary escalation point for project-related issues.
- Collaborate with Computacenter PMO, Sales, Solution Sales, Consultancy, Integration Center, and onsite teams associated with the project.
- Lead and engage with subject matter experts from Consultancy as required for each project.
- Maintain communication with key technical stakeholders from the client throughout the project/program lifecycle.
- Ensure client signoff at the technical closure stage.
- Develop technical documentation necessary for each project phase, such as Site Survey, Rack Design Documents, and Technical Workbooks.
- Review and approve internal technical documentation.
- Deliver technical documentation to internal teams and the Integration Center.
- Conduct reviews and training on technical requirements within internal teams.
- Participate in First Article Builds and Proof of Concepts.
- Serve as the technical escalation contact for internal teams, including Integration Center, Field Engineering, Consulting Team, and Low Voltage.
- Provide oversight and vetting of onsite resources to ensure the appropriate skill sets are utilized to meet Computacenter's implementation standards.
- Offer technical support and guidance to onsite personnel.
- Conduct performance evaluations for Project Engineers.
- Contribute to the Statement of Work (SOW) and Level of Effort (LOE) for new and ongoing opportunities.
- Support and embody Computacenter's mission and core values.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a technical discipline.
- 5-7 years of experience in the installation, configuration, enhancement, and/or maintenance of enterprise environments.
- Experience with large-scale workplace deployments.
- Preferred industry certifications include BICSI, CCNA, and JNCIA.
- Experience in data center solutions and relevant certifications is advantageous.
- Experience in Low Voltage or Audio-Visual solutions and associated certifications is a plus.
- Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present effectively in group settings.
- Self-motivated professional capable of collaborating with others.
- Expertise in current technologies relevant to the role, with the ability to explain these technologies in layman's terms.
- Highly organized with a solid understanding of project implementation timelines and processes.
- Competent to advanced skills in MS Excel and MS Visio.
- Possess a sense of urgency along with strong organizational and follow-up skills.
