Job Summary

The Commercial Loan Closer is a seasoned professional responsible for ensuring the smooth execution of commercial real estate transactions. This role requires expertise in documenting and processing complex commercial and mortgage loans, working closely with various stakeholders to provide a best-in-class experience for our members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transaction Management: Prepares attorney closing instructions, orders, and compiles loan documents in preparation for loan closings, working in conjunction with attorneys and title companies to execute loans and ensure timely closings.
  • Due Diligence Review: Reviews due diligence items such as Flood Certificates, Hazard Insurance, Tax Reporting, UCCs, Surveys, and Life Insurance policy assignments to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and TDECU procedures.
  • Pre-Closing Review: Performs a pre-closing review of each assigned loan file to ensure that the file contains the required closing documentation and that each file is following regulatory guidelines and TDECU compliance procedures.
  • Document Review and Approval: Reviews final draft documents for completion and accuracy, ensuring that credit approval memos, loan approval systems, and credit agreements are consistent.
  • Settlement Statement Review: Reviews and approves Settlement Statements/HUD to ensure that all closing costs are collected.
  • Loan Onboarding: Establishes and onboards borrowers, guarantors, loans, escrow accounts, collateral, and fees on the core loan system in accordance with the credit agreement, ensuring that the credit union's lien is perfected on related collateral and e-files all recordable collateral documents as applicable.
  • Record Keeping: Records required ticklers in the department's loan tracking system.
  • Document Storage: Uploads executed loan packages into 3rd party document storing systems.
Requirements
  • Education: Associates degree or an equivalent mix of education and experience is a requirement.
  • Licensure: (Not specified)
  • Experience: Five or more years of job-related experience, including familiarity with documenting and processing routine to complex commercial and mortgage loans (commercial loan experience preferred).
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrated experience closing Conventional, SBA, USDA, and Construction loans; ability to work both remotely and collaboratively; strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; strategic and creative thinking abilities; excellent organizational skills; strong working knowledge and understanding of closing processes and documents, including legal documents; and strong self-management skills.
