Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Medical Coder to join our team at Paramedic Billing Services. As a Medical Coder, you will play a crucial role in reviewing patient care reports, establishing medical necessity, and selecting levels of service. Your attention to detail and ability to communicate effectively will be essential in ensuring accurate coding and documentation.

Key Responsibilities

1. Review patient care reports thoroughly, utilizing all available documentation to establish medical necessity and select levels of service.
2. Maintain open communication with internal and external departments to obtain missing documentation or clarify existing unclear documentation.
3. Refer patient care reports to the Processing Manager for coding or documentation questions.
4. Communicate with other departments as needed for problem resolution, clarification, etc.
5. Assign condition codes for the reason(s) for the trip with a minimum of 95% accuracy.
6. Meet established minimum coding productivity standards.
7. Monitor work and adjust daily duties to ensure timely and accurate coding of records.
8. Report productivity on a daily basis to the Processing Manager, following established guidelines.

Requirements

1. Minimum High School Diploma or equivalency.
2. Preferred College Coursework towards Healthcare Billing Certification.
3. Knowledge of medical terminology.
4. Excellent verbal communications skills.
5. Ability to multitask and handle a fair amount of stress when busy.
6. Maintain a positive and professional attitude at all times.
7. Computer literate.
8. Typing of at least 35 WPM.
9. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific knowledge.
10. Ability to respond to common inquiries and forward appropriate complaints from employees, customers, agencies, facilities, and hospitals.
11. Ability to effectively present information to Management.
